AACSB Chair Dr. Roger Weikle Visiting MCU School of Management
by Hung-Liang Yu
The School of Management (SOM) at MCU has entered its final stage of pursuing AACSB Accreditation. The final Peer Review Team visit is scheduled for May 2017, to be chaired by Dr. Roger Weikle, Dean of the College of Business Administration at Winthrop University in South Carolina, USA. Dean Weikle is visiting the SOM for the first time from October 3rd to 5th to better understand the SOM’s efforts in pursuit of the accreditation, and to make further suggestions to help the SOM earn accreditation next year. Dean Weikle will discuss the AACSB accreditation process and what is expected during the team visit in a welcome ceremony hosted by President Lee. He will then meet with faculty representatives from the SOM as well as the Accreditation Office staff for a Q&A session. Dean Weikle will spend the next day discussing the final version of the Self- Evaluation Report to make sure the SOM has the necessary mechanisms for continuous improvement required by AACSB. AACSB is one of the most prestigious international accreditation organizations for business education. The SOM submitted its Eligibility Application in April 2014, which was accepted in June of that year, with the Standard Alignment Plan accepted in May 2015, and the first Progress Report approved in March 2016. The SOM was then recommended to enter the final stage of accreditation. Compared to the 18 schools that have earned AACSB accreditation in Taiwan, MCU SOM has thus far made the most rapid progress in the accreditation process.
